...or the Little Alps are a beautiful range of mountains up to around 3000m seperating eastern and western mid-italy.
I spent 2 days there walking to lago di pilato (where apparently Pilato's body was dumped, though as you can tell, the lake is so disappointingly tiny these days that I should have seen his skeletal remains, I'm sure..)
and walking up to the Monte Vettore in the Monte Sibillini area was very relaxing, though a bit cold - okay very cold - it was in fact snowing up there!
Also spent a night in Casteluccio, an old farmer's hamlet, overlooking the Piano Grande, which is basically a agricultural plain amidst the hills. Here one eats Agnello (Lamb) and their speciality, Lenticchie (lentils) con Salciccie.
